The problem with camping in Canada

You're losing hundreds of dollars
every single season.

Not because you camp too much — because you pay like everyone else does. That's about to change.

📅

The 6-Month Lottery

You set an alarm, log on at 7am sharp, and still lose provincial park sites to bots. Then you scramble for whatever's left.

💸

$100+ a Night for a Patch of Gravel

Private campground rates doubled since 2020. You're paying premium pricing for a concrete pad 6 feet from your neighbour.

🏕️

Shoulder-to-Shoulder "Escapes"

You drove 3 hours to get away from it all. Your neighbour's generator disagrees. This is what public camping looks like now.

🗺️

The Good Parks Stay Hidden

The best privately owned campgrounds — real wilderness, real owners — aren't on any app you've tried. You don't know they exist.

The campers paying $33/night all season at private campgrounds coast to coast aren't lucky.
They have a Northern Stay membership.

The numbers don't lie

The camping math nobody shows you

Here's what 30 nights of camping actually costs — three ways.

Method Cost per night 30 nights Book in advance? Private land?
Provincial parks $38–55 $1,140–$1,650 + 6-month sprint 6 months out
Private campground (nightly) $75–135 $2,250–$4,050 Weeks ahead
Northern Stay Getaway Pass $33.30/night $999 flat ✓ 60 days ✓ 80+ parks

The Getaway Pass covers 30 nights across all 80+ partner campgrounds. That's a per-night rate your friends will be jealous of — and they'll ask how you did it.

$33/night
$999 ÷ 30 nights
Embarrassingly simple

Three steps. All season.

No points. No tiers. No complicated system. Just camping.

Be honest with yourself

This is not for everyone.

And that's intentional. Northern Stay is built for a specific kind of camper.

This is for you if…
You camp 8+ nights per season and hate overpaying
You want private land, not packed public grounds
You're tired of the 6-month provincial park booking race
You travel across multiple provinces in a season
You want to actually own your camping budget
This probably isn't for you if…
You camp once a year, max
You only want government-run parks
You don't book ahead — ever
You prefer the social chaos of packed campgrounds
You're not ready to camp differently

If you recognized yourself in the left column — this membership will pay for itself before mid-July.

★★★★★

"24 nights last season. At the $90/night average we used to pay, that's $2,160. The Getaway Pass was $999. I don't know why we didn't do this sooner."

"I booked a lakefront site in Muskoka for a long weekend — with 3 days notice. Public parks were sold out for months. I didn't even know Northern Stay had parks there until I logged in."

"Went Lifestyle right away. We're retired and camp ~65 nights a year. Paid for itself in the first season. The idea of paying per night now feels absurd."

Still have questions?

We've heard them all.

Do I really pay $0 per night? No hidden fees?
Correct. At all 80+ Northern Stay partner campgrounds, your nightly site fee is covered by your membership. You pay nothing at check-in. Some parks may charge separately for add-ons like firewood, electrical metering over a certain threshold, or premium sites — but the site itself is always included. We're transparent about it.
What's the difference between Getaway Pass and Lifestyle?
Getaway Pass ($999/season) gives you up to 30 member nights per season and renews annually. Lifestyle Membership ($4,999 one-time + $79/mo) is unlimited — no cap on nights, no annual renewal. If you camp more than 30 nights a year or just don't want to think about tracking anything, Lifestyle pays for itself faster than you'd expect.
How do I book? Is there an app?
Once you join, you get instant access to the Northern Stay member portal. Browse all 80+ campgrounds, filter by province or dates, check live availability, and reserve your site — up to 60 days in advance. The parks confirm directly; when you arrive, they know you're coming and your membership handles the site fee.
Are the campgrounds actually good, or is this just a list of random places?
Every campground in the Northern Stay network applied to join — we don't scrape listings. They're privately owned parks that chose to partner with us because they want a specific type of guest. Many are places that don't show up on Google, Booking.com, or Campspot. Real land, real owners, real outdoor experiences.
What if I only want to camp in one province?
Your membership works across all 10 provinces — but you're not required to travel coast to coast. If you only ever use Ontario or BC parks, the math still works in your favour. Access to the full network is a benefit, not an obligation.
What's the catch? Why isn't everyone already doing this?
Honest answer: Northern Stay is still growing. We're not the size of KOA. That's actually the point — smaller network means less crowding, more private land, and parks that actually care who shows up. The campers who find us tend to stay. We're expanding the network throughout 2026 and new parks are added regularly.
What if I change my mind? Is there a refund?
We offer a 30-day satisfaction commitment. If you join and the membership isn't delivering what you expected in the first month — before you've camped heavily — contact us at admin@northernstay.com and we'll work it out. We're a Canadian company, not a faceless subscription service.
The only decision left

This season, you camp
differently.

Private land. Online booking. $0 nightly fees. 80+ campgrounds coast to coast. The math works — all that's left is joining.
