Sicamous, British Columbia
Sicamous sits at the junction of Shuswap Lake and Mara Lake in the interior of British Columbia, in the Columbia-Shuswap region. The town (~2,400 residents) is known as the "Houseboat Capital of Canada" — the interlinked lake system gives summer visitors hundreds of kilometres of connected waterways, bays, and secluded beaches. The Trans-Canada Highway runs straight through.
Summer is the dominant season: warm, dry weather from June through early September, with high 20s to low 30s°C common. The lakes are the main draw for swimming, boating, waterskiing, and fishing. Spring and fall are quiet and cooler; winters are mild with light snow in town and more on the surrounding hills.
The area is classic interior-BC lake country — forested hills, small orchards, and a handful of wineries. Nearby Salmon Arm is the main regional centre (~30 km west); Revelstoke (~70 km east) offers mountain day trips. Herald Provincial Park, Shuswap Lake Provincial Park, and Yard Creek Provincial Park are all within easy reach.

Location has pool and sauna and other cabins and such to rent. We liked the family atmosphere and it felt like a resort. Somewhat isolated enough to feel relax and yet it was on…”

The campground was small, which made us more comfortable letting our kids play freely at the playground and riding their bikes. The cabin we st…”

“This place, my family has been going to since the 70s. It is quiet and rustic and anything you would want. They have a pool and a sauna outside and a little store and laundry. And a pool table. All the hookups for an RV as well. The cabins are expensive for a tiny cabin though.”
